The Long Lost Blogger

How to begin… looking back at the posts I have posted over the last year, I discovered a severe lack of posts. Once again it struck me with undeniable clarity that I am a horrible blogger. As I go about life, thoughts whirl through my head of, “Oh, this would make a great post! So would this!” but alas, I rarely take the time to sit down and post them. And so, a goal of mine for this summer is to give my blog-site some much needed attention and so the long lost blogger returns.

In September, I moved from Medford up to Langley, BC to attend college. My blog fell by the wayside as I focused my energies on school and adjusting to my new life up north. But now, eight months later, I am settled back in at home in Medford until September when I will return to Canada again. My blogging will be aided by the photo shoots coming up and the weddings that will soon grace this blog. If you have any interest in a photo shoot, contact me because I still have openings for this summer!

Since I have been home, I’ve been going through photos and getting myself set up and organized for all the shoots this summer and came across slews of photos that never made their appearance on my blog. My shoots for clients always get posted, but photos that I shoot just for myself have a startling tendency to collect dust on my computer and never make the journey to the public eye. And so, to begin with, I thought I’d post a few photos from a day I spent on Granville Island back in the Fall.

July has vanished!

Well, I’m terribly sorry about my “Nashville…coming soon!” I just looked at the calendar and it’s been a month! I can’t believe it. July has vanished! It’s been the craziest July between work, photography, and getting things squared away for the fall (I’ll let you know about that in August) getting together with friends and other photographers, second-shooting two weddings and a camp! It’s been so fun, but I came to realize that I totally neglected my blog and haven’t even posted on Nashville! I have oh-so many things to post. It’s quite ridiculous. Can you outsource blogging? I really do love to write and share my photos, but I find with everything else, I simply forget about my blog. One of the goals I walked away with from Nashville was to blog more. We learned about what an important part of our businesses it is. Obviously, I haven’t done too well at meeting that goal yet, but I am trying again this month! Encouragement is welcome. ;)

So, I am leaving town tomorrow afternoon to attend Jesus Culture in Redding! I am so excited. I have wanted to attend one for the last year and now I finally get to go. After that I’ll be heading up to my grandma’s house for a week with my family to spend time with some of my extended family and the Schripsema’s. I’ll be blogging some in Astoria and will be returning emails for part of the time I’m there, but I won’t be able to respond as quickly as usual.

And so, because it would be horrible of me not to post any Nashville photos, here is a preview of what is to come.

One day we photographed the women at the Nashville Rescue Mission.

We did a spontaneous photo shoot with Sarah’s friend, Jazz, on Sarah’s balcony one night because the light was so gorgeous.

A little fun during our day in Franklin.

One evening we did a bio shoot and Sarah took photos of all of us for our blogs. I LOVE some of the photos she got of me (you’ve probably noticed some in my new header) but she also captured some absolutely hilarious expressions that I apparently make–I hadn’t known my face formed some of the expressions until I saw the photos. This particular one, is the face I make when I take a bad photo of you on a shoot, so by simply counting my expressions throughout the duration of your shoot you’ll know what my good/bad ratio is for the day…not really. ;)

Jazz took this photo of all of us during the bio shoot.

A “we did” session we did of a couple who got married a while back.

We also went to a show one night where we saw Thousand Foot Krutch, Satellites & Sirens, and Sarah’s friend, Nathan Lee, perform.

Now you know what you have to look forward too! I’ll be posting more from these shoots and other shoots over the next couple of weeks!

Brittany - Finally! Such a fun post. You are hilarious! I love your strange expression–it is so you.

Nashville | A Quick Update II

Another little update. I’m having a marvelous time and taking tons of photos…I just haven’t been taking the time to post all the photos. But, I will be blogging about my time here in Nashville once I get home and I’m sure that it will take quite a few posts to post about my whole trip, so I’ll be making up for my blogging absence once I get back to Oregon! For now, here’s a photo I took of myself in Sarah’s glasses when we were shooting up on a bridge.

Oh, and you’ve probably noticed the appearance of my blog is changing. We’ve been working on branding and mine isn’t quite finished yet, but don’t worry, my blog won’t be looking like this for too much longer. ;) Have a lovely day!

Nashville | A Quick Update

Just a quick little update. I fly into Nashville last night for a photography internship with Sarah Barlow and four other girls. I don’t know how much I’ll be posting while I’m here, but I’ll be sure to post about the trip when I get back. I’ll be responding to emails and phone calls when I get in the office on June 29th. And so for now, the amazing view from Sarah’s apartment where we are all staying.
